Summmary of the Site
The muscular system is vital to the health, well-being, and life of an organism. It controls everything that you do in your daily life. The muscular system controls all of your actions, from breathing to running, eating to working out. It controls the skeletal system, as it is attached to bones through the use of various tendons and ligaments. It controls the respiratory system and the digestive system as well.
The human body has approximately seven hundred muscles that all serve a different purpose. The bicep
helps move the forearm toward the body while the tricep helps move the forearm away from the body. The bicep is an example of a flexor and the tricep is an example of an extensor. (The definitions of those will be on the Physiology page.) Even muscles that are that close to each other serve completely different purposes.
So, as you travel through the various tabs, you will learn about the muscular system and how it affects your life from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep and everything in between.
