Types of Muscular Maladies
Neuromuscular
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: causes weakening of voluntary muscles, usually occurs in early childhood
Becker Muscular Dystrophy: calves of the patient grow abnormally large, usually occurs in late adolescence or young adulthood
Metabolic
Phosphorylase: disease that affects a small number of muscles, muscles can not metabolize carbohydrates properly, energy defficiency, usually occurs before age fifteen
Inflammatory
Dermatomyositis: causes inflammation of muscles, autoimmune problem, causes a purple rash and nodules under the skin, appears from childhood to early adulthood
Polymyositis: causes inflammation of muscles, appears after age twenty, prevalant among females, shoulders and neck are affected, accompanied with respiratory problems

Sprain: a sprain is the tearing of a ligament near a joint
Strain: a strain is the tearing of a muscle
